Piority: Normal Reference: JAG Rules of Conduct 10 Proposal: Note: At the time of writing, Emergency Resolution 0210 is still to be voted on by the FRPG Council. With the recent JAG investigation into breaches of the FRPG's Codes of Conduct within the posts of one of the RP units, namely the USS CENTURY, common knowledge within the simulation as a whole, it is time to extend the JAG officer's powers to attempt to curtail such breaches in the future. Although Rule 10, referenced above, places emphasis on the simulation's Moderators and Administrators to edit or remove any offending material within posts, the CENTURY's posting problems extended back a number of months without any official intervention; it took an official complaint to the JAG officer for these problems to be combatted. Therefore, I propose that the simulation's JAG officer be given the responsibility of regularly monitoring the posts of each RP unit, in order to ensure that the Code of Conduct is upheld, and that the JAG officer be permitted to act with the FRPG Council's authority to instigate disciplinary actions against any player he/she deems to be in breach of the rules, according to the usual disciplinary procedures. They would act as a backup to each RP unit's Commanding Officer in ensuring that each individual RP unit remains a universally acceptable place to write and enjoy the simulation for all the players involved. It is the duty of all players within the simulation to abide by its spirit and tenets; regular monitoring of the FRPG's archives would ensure that such a situation as this would not come to light again. Pros: Established authority figure able to act with Council's authority against breaches of Code of Conduct; regular "screening" of archived posts would make it more difficult for errant RP units to ignore the simulation's general rules. Cons: "Big Brother" mentality may foster among some writers who may not be comfortable with the idea. Votes: Outcome: Failed/Closed SD 2.20822.0838 |
