Resolution 0211: Specialized Ship Class

PROBLEM
=======

There needs to be an outlet for creative writers to explore other departments in the Federation. The Marines, Intel Corps, and JAG do not have a viable outlet except in limited cases. I am proposing the development of a ship class and mission profile that is geared toward these departments in the Federation.

SOLUTION/RESOLUTION
===================

I would like to see the development of a ship class and mission profile that is more geared to Intel "dark ops" during peace time and "behind enemy lines" actions during war.

Ship Configuration

Combination of a DEFIANT class ship as the saucer section with an appropriate and small battle section. The ship would have powerful weapons (like the DEFIANT) and shielding. The ship would also have a cloak based on the technology from TNG Season 7 episode "The PEGASUS". The crew would contain the usual departments but also have a large contingent of Intel officers and a specialty trained group of Marines. The senior staff could contain the following. Where roles are not obvious, I have filled in some comments.

CO - Commanding Officer
ExO - Executive (first) Officer
Ops - Operations (second) Officer
CEO - Chief Engineering Officer
CIO - Chief Intelligence Officer
Head of all Intel officers and responsible for interaction between Starfleet HQ, Ship, and Starfleet Intel. Would run all Intel based Ops and be first officer to intrepret all intel gathered. A big role on this ship.
SOO - Strategic Operations Officer
Works with CIO and JAG to develop mission profiles. Would run missions that do not fall into Intel or Marine single command.
JAG - Judge Advocate General Officer
Concience of senior staff to make sure CIO, SOO, and MCO don't wish to do something in total violation of standing regs, treaties, directives, etc.
CSciO - Chief Science Officer
CNS - Counsoler
CMO - Chief Medical Officer
MCO - Marine Commanding Officer
CO of the Marines attached to ship. Runs all missions that require only marine usage and not Intel run.
Sec - Security Department Head (internal to ship only)
Tac - Tactical Officer

Some of these could be combined because the ship staff should be small. Sec/Tac, CEO/CSciO, CMS/CNS, CIO/SOO, MCO/Sec are some of the possible combinations.

Mission Profiles

Peace Time
Black Ops raid on facility to obtain sensitive intel. Observation/decipher activity on a hostile planet/instalation.

War Time
Disrupt/Destroy communications facilities behind enemy lines Disrupt/Destroy supply routes/facilities. Covert raids on facilities to gain intel "Point of the spear" attacks on critical facilities as prelude or opening act in a major offensive.

Outcome: Failed/Closed.
Notes: It should be noted, the major reason for the failure of this resolution is inability to sustain a new RP unit. However, several ideas were generated that might reappear as a solution to accomplish the same intent of this resolution.
