Resolution 0201: New Website Layout/New Website Server Option

Res0201A:
NEW WEBSITE LAYOUT

Please review this URL: http://youth.net/frpg/testsite/frpgindex.html

A couple of the links across the top, are functioning, so please check those out, to get an idea of what the departmental pages will look like.
If this layout is acceptable, Orwell has offered to get the rest of the pages setup for this new layout.

Notes: This resolution had mixed reviews. While on the whole, the new website passed, this email is being sent to the design committee for consideration of the following comments on the site:

* Navigvational Menu. Whether it should be moveable or static.
* Colors. A review of the colors chosen, to determine the possible use of colors that have been considered Trek in the past.

While this does not guarantee the layout will be changed, I want to assure everyone their concerns will be addressed before the new site goes up for good.

Res0201B:
NEW WEBSITE SERVER OPTION

I have found myself struggling to meet the needs of constantly updating several websites, work, and other activities. As such, I have fallen more than a little behind in updating the main RPG site. I have spoken with Richard Bisbey, and he assures me this proposal is possible.

It is propsed that the the departmental pages on the youth.net server be separated into their individual folders and these folders be assigned individual usernames and passwords. Thus allowing all people updating the departmental pages to directly update their respective pages.

Pros:
This would allow for more accurate and timely updates to the webpages. An example would be the Ops pages. As the crews change constantly, this particular page need supdating quite often.

Cons:
The major drawback is that there would potential be five to eight people accessing and updating the pages. While they wouldn't have access to other departments, there is potential to lose the uniformity of the site. While, it is one thing to have the satellite sites look unique, the main site does need some uniformity. But, this is a *minor* negative - easily overcome.
