Resolution 0059: Proposal for a Fleet-Wide Newsleter

It is proposed that, under the direction of Kim Toussaint and Francois Charette, a Fleet Wide Newsletter be created and distributed to all members of the FRPG.

This text only newsletter would contain articles which could be submitted to the editors, either via their own e-mail addresses or an alternate address. Such a newsletter could contain information on ships, missions and crews, thus giving the feeling of a single, large fleet instead of a few isolated vessels to all of the FRPG members. The forum would also be open to statements from Senior players and Council members.

The newsletter would be assembled by it's editors on their own time, causing no conflicts with any RPG responsibilities already in place. Both RPG and NRPG matters would be covered in this newsletter in a general manner. Example, the welcoming of new members to the Fleet, the promotion or change of assignments of Officers already in the Fleet, as well as announcements of births and marriages in both the RPG and NRPG level, could be made part of the information distributed in such a manner.

Trek related information could also be added to assist in certain aspects of the RPG. Like, Romulan history to contribute to the understanding of the war with the Romulans. People would be allowed to make submissions of whatever they feel is relevant to and could enhance the future of the game.

It is believed that such a newsletter would only contribute to strengthen the FRPG and create a better understanding of the whole simulation. This would be accomplished by informing it's participants of events which otherwise would have gone unnoticed. (IE - Vulcan's return to the Federation)

Of course, the mailing list for such a newsletter would be limited in it's access to only the FC and the members of the newsletter editorial staff, thus avoiding the possibility of 'spam' mail. Also, any member of the FRPG could request in writing to have his/her name removed from the mailing list at any time without any consequences. The Goal is to give a club-wide "connection" in the convenient form of a single E-mail to those who do not have the time to browse through the FRPG's website. It is also believed that, with the assistance of the Fleet's COs, this newsletter could be produced on a weekly basis. The CO's help would only consist of informing the Editors of promotions, shifts in crew and the sending of a copy of the Captain's log at the end of a mission. Therefore, we respectfully ask that the FedCom Newsletter project be permitted. All aspects and related work for this newsletter would be
taken care of by Kim Toussaint and Francois Charette following the approval of the FC.
