Resolution 2003-02: Reform of Application Procedure

1. Hereafter applicants will be required to submit both character biography and story (Entrance Application, EA) at the same time, that is to say in their initial mailing to the ACTC staff.

2. If the bio contains details that are deemed unacceptable for the FRPG environment, the applicant will be asked by the dCOO (currently Laura Tegner) to adjust the points in question accordingly. The applicant will be given the chance to make these adjustments prior to any evaluation by the ACT Council.

3.a. A list of "canon races" will be posted alongside the biography template on the website. This will be to encourage all applicants to choose from the variety of existing races rather than creating their own.

3.b. In the event that the applicant wishes to create a new race, the Race Submission Form (RSF) will need to accompany the bio and EA (an RSF template will be posted at the website as well). Bio and EA will be evaluated only *after* the RSF has been approved by the Chief of Starfleet Sciences (currently Davo Wells). If the approval of the new race requires changes to RSF and/or bio, the applicant will be asked to make any necessary changes prior to the bio/EA evaluation by the ACT Council.

4. The required length of the EA will be dropped from 2000 to 500 words. The EA should describe a scene from the character's life prior to entering ACT but no particular setup will be required. No knowledge of FRPG formatting rules will be required at this stage.

5. Evaluation by the ACT Council: The biography will be judged according to the character's "suitability" to the FRPG environment. The EA will be used to judge the player's overall writing ability and style.

6. In the event of a negative evaluation result, the applicant will be offered the chance to reapply with new EA and/or biography. The applicant will be advised of any comments made by members of the ACTC which may be helpful in the construction of a new application.

7. The minimum number of cadets required for making up an ACT class will be lowered to five (5). No class should contain more than eight (8) cadets maximum.

8. Maximum waiting time for prospective ACT cadets (that is to say the time between approval of the application and the start of the respective ACT class) will be discussed in a separate ACTC Resolution. This discussion will include provisions for when the minimum number of cadets has not been reached but maximum waiting time has elapsed.
